Christmas, the Miles Redd way

A-la-Kelly

This collection will make a drop dead fabulous Christmas table, but at more than $100 a piece it is mostly out of reach.  But, I was glad to came across <a href="http://www.crateandbarrel.com/dining-and-entertaining/dinner-plates/dazzle-plates/f38886" target="_blank">this</a> new china by <a href="http://www.crateandbarrel.com/" target="_blank">Crate and Barrel</a> that creates a similar dazzling effect. The comfort zone

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">I believe that the planning of a space cannot only rely on practicality while ignoring style, nor can it be vise versa. Comfort and beauty should harmoniously coexist. Like William Morris once said "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful." I am truly convinced that our surroundings influence our beings and if we put in our homes only what we love based on comfort and functionality beauty will reveal itself. After all, having a warm, comfortably functional and beautiful home to come back to at the end of a long and hectic day, is what we all covet. Don't take me wrong, if I could afford a Claude Lalanne chair I'll maybe purchase one but I'll first make sure I have enough space to enjoy it more like a displayed chic piece of furniture rather than an everyday-use one. Urzekł mnie ten kraj o niewiarygodnej przyrodzie z pięknymi ludźmi. Kenijczycy są naprawdę pięknym narodem, nie tylko wszystkim znani Masajowie, choć oni szczególnie ale także ludzie z innych grup etnicznych. Na ulicy Mombasy widziałam dziewczynę z łysą głową, w tradycyjnych kolorowych chustach (jaki zestaw kolorów i wzorów!!!)  i etnicznej biżuterii z plastikowym koszykiem – wyglądała zjawiskowo, nie mogłam oderwać od niej oczu, nie tylko zresztą ja :-). Miasta – brzydkie, Mombasa to tak naprawdę jeden duży slums, nie licząc posiadłości bogaczy ale już za murami całe trawniki zasłane śmieciami – dosłownie zasłane. Natomiast wioseczki – prześliczne. Co z tego że bez prądu i bieżącej wody, skoro ludzie uśmiechnięci, spokojnie siedzący, rozmawiający, zwierzęta czyściutki (gdzie u nas są takie czyste krowy?) a życie toczy się nieśpiesznie. Ach i widziałam lwa – naprawdę jest to duże przeżycie. Dla nas – mnie i mojego Seby – wszystko było przyjemniejsze bo wszyscy wołali "Rasta, Rasta" nawet groźna urzędniczka na mombaskim lotnisku przywitała nas z uśmiechem "Hello Rasta". To było fajne, dredy w Afryce bardzo ułatwiają życie ;-) Ze strony Afrykańczyków same uśmiechy i wielka serdeczność. Mimo olbrzymiej biedy nigdy nic nam nie zginęło, nikogo nie kusiły nasze rzeczy w przeciwieństwie do lokatorów wypierdzianego pięciogwiazdkowego hotelu w którym któremuś z gości hotelowych tak bardzo spodobał się telefon mojego męża, że po prostu wyjął go sobie ze spodni leżących na leżaku. No cóż telefon naprawdę był fajny, miał bajery i dużo książek do czytania, no taki gadżecik ale bez przesady, jeśli kogoś stać na taki hotel to telefon może sobie kupić. A może chciał żeby pobyt się częściowo zwrócił, kto wie? W każdym razie kenijskie szylingi pozostały nietknięte – nie można ich wymieniać na dolary przy wyjeździe! W sumie dobrze, że zostawili spodenki bo też były fajne :-)</span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">A na deser: </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">z rozmów zasłyszanych wśród naszych rodaków: "ach jakie te czarne twarze groźne, tylko oczy świecą", "nie życzę pani aby znalazła się sama wśród czarnych, pożałuje pani wtedy, że panią matka urodziła (to było akurat do mnie powiedziane!)", "ach ta moja lodówka za 23 tyś. (mąż), no co ty ona kosztowała 13 tyś. (żona)", "dzisiaj drinki stawia nowy prezes, he, he", "a moja najdroższa pralka firmy Miele...", "jakieś takie buractwo nam się trafiło", "Adasiu to nie ten poziom co my" itd, itd...
